We are community members who have interacted with the health care system – from attempting to quit smoking, to participating in lung cancer screening – and have dealt with radon gas and wildfire smoke. From our experience, there are some thing that heathcare providers and policy makers should know in order to deliver the best possible care.
Quitting Smoking: A Personalized Approach
Quitting smoking is incredibly difficult and the path towards it will be different for each person due to circumstances and cultural background. For instance, tobacco is sacred in some Indigenous cultures.
What Patients Need From You
  • Empathetic care, not judgment.

Lung Illness
  1. Risk models can be informative but special attention to context is needed.
  2. We want more information about socioeconomic risks, besides education levels.
